Agnès Varda collects pictures of other collectors and their findings: abandoned field crops, discarded potatoes, leftovers from the weekly market, expired goods from the supermarket, bulky waste and much more. Often the collectors are socially disadvantaged, but there are also artists among them or simply people who do not support a disposable society. The film combines French harvesting traditions with new forms of behaviour that are (wrongly) frowned upon today. In parallel, Varda reflects again and again on her working methods, on herself as a director and on the possibilities of film art.
A film patron class from the region will present their own short film project as an introduction to the film.
Before the screening, Secretary of State for Culture Ayse Asar, Ellen Harrington (DFF), Michael Jahn (VISION KINO) and the project directors Anna Katharina Potzuweit and Caroline Fuchs will give opening speeches.
